-Rozz Williams was just seventeen years of age when he and Ron Athey formed Premature Ejaculation in the summer of 1981, a good six months before Christian Death entered the studio to record their first album, Only Theatre of Pain. If the seven untitled tracks on Premature Ejaculation - (Part 1) are primitive and raw, then this is hardly surprising taking into account Rozz and Ron's relative inexperience and their lack of proper recording equipment, or indeed, even instrumentation. While it is true that Rozz had been involved in various bands since he was fifteen, no recordings survive and it would be difficult to believe that any such recordings would have captured anything but their basic 'live' sound during rehearsals. At the time of creating this recording, Rozz and Ron were heavily influenced by NON and Throbbing Gristle. It is almost impossible to listen to Premature Ejaculation - (Part 1) and not make instant comparisons with Boyd Rice's debut offering, commonly known as The Black Album. Premature Ejaculation - (Part 1) and the bonus 'live' recording have both never been released before in any form. |
